How to be referred

Unlike some other food banks, we don't operate a voucher system.
We have set up a referral system so that agencies,
local community leaders and support workers
can contact us by mobile phone when they become aware
of a situation in which someone requires a food parcel.
We rely on the referrer's own judgement of need,
and hope to respond to referral calls within 48 hours.

Sorry, we cannot accept self referrals.

If you think you need our help, you can contact South Lakes Citizens Advice,
or another support agency that you might be in touch with.
You can

  • call Citizens Advice on 03444 111 444, or
  • leave a message on 015394 46464, or
  • just drop into the Kendal office on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Where appropriate, we deliver the parcel to the relevant address.
We do this in pairs of trained volunteers who respect
the confidentiality of recipients.

We know that in some circumstances, referrers may want
to deliver the food parcels themselves.
This can be arranged at the time they make the referral.

Our mobile telephone number for referrals is 07582 166564.

We have a rota of volunteer phone holders.
